Thrash is one of those genres where the live recording either embarrasses the studio version or makes you wonder why they bothered with the studio at all. Live in London falls firmly in the second camp.

Captured in 2005 during one of Testament's most ferocious touring runs, this is Chuck Billy fronting a band that sounds genuinely pissed off in the best possible way. The Gathering and Low material hits harder in this format, and the coloured vinyl pressing gives you something worth pulling out of the sleeve just to look at. If your knowledge of Bay Area thrash stops at Metallica, consider this your remedial education. Essential alternative music for anyone who thinks metal peaked somewhere between 1987 and 1994 and hasn't been convinced otherwise.
