Sacramento doesn't get nearly enough credit for its death metal output, and Tentacult are exactly the kind of band that should change that. Synaptic Perfidy is progressive death metal that actually earns the progressive tag, not just time signature gymnastics over triggered kicks, but something genuinely disorienting in the best possible way.

This is the sort of release that rewards obsessive listeners, the ones who map out riff transitions and argue about influences online at 2am. There's a technicality to this that sits well within the lineage of bands pushing death metal into stranger, more cerebral territory, but it never loses the gut-punch that makes the genre worth caring about in the first place.
