Rome's Stormlord spent the nineties and early 2000s building one of the more singular catalogs in Italian extreme metal, threading symphonic bombast, black metal fury, and power metal grandiosity into something that sounded genuinely cinematic without losing its teeth. The Legacy of Medusa collects the highlights across that run, and it holds up as a document of a band who never got their due outside of the underground circles where names like Bal-Sagoth and early Dimmu Borgir were spoken with reverence. If you think symphonic black metal peaks with the Nordics, Italy respectfully disagrees.
