S.O.D., the Stormtroopers of Death, were a side project that somehow out-thrashed the main acts, blurring the line between metal aggression and hardcore spite in a way that still sounds unhinged today. Sargent D, their fictional totalitarian mascot, became one of the more gloriously absurd icons to come out of the New York scene, and this scrawled lightning patch captures that raw, xeroxed-flyer energy perfectly. Slap it on your battle vest next to your Nuclear Assault and M.O.D. patches and let the argument about the correct running order begin.
