SOCIOCLAST: S/T CD

Grindcore from San Jose, California has a particular flavour, something about the Bay Area's legacy of crossover brutality that keeps bleeding into anything fast and furious that comes out of there. Socioclast's self-titled debut landed in 2021 and wasted no time establishing that this band is not interested in your comfort.

This is deathgrind in the old sense, not the polished, clinical kind but the kind that sounds like it was recorded in a building that was angry about it. Short, violent, ideologically sharp. The self-titled format is a classic move for a band announcing themselves, no frills, no concept record pretensions, just the songs doing the work. If your record collection runs heavy on Napalm Death, Terrorizer, and Repulsion, there's room in there for this one.
