SLIPKNOT The End, So Far CD (2022)

Nine albums in and Slipknot still sound like something crawled out of a Des Moines cornfield and decided to make it everyone's problem. The End, So Far arrived in 2022 as the band's sixth studio record and first on their own Roadrunner imprint, carrying the weight of Corey Taylor's post-COVID restlessness and a lineup that's been through more than most bands survive.

This is a Slipknot record that breathes differently. The nu metal aggression is still there but it leans into dynamics, atmosphere, and the kind of dark introspection that made Vol. 3 divisive and beloved in equal measure. Tracks like "The Dying Song" hit with the blunt force you expect, while the album's slower passages reward patience. It's the sound of a band that's been doing this long enough to stop caring what the genre purists think, and it's better for it. Essential for any serious collection of heavy alternative and metal on CD.
