The Sex Pistols necktie is the perfect collision of two worlds that were never supposed to coexist, office dress code and the band that got banned by the BBC inside a week. Johnny Rotten wore one. So did a generation of post-punk kids who understood that dressing up and spitting on convention aren't mutually exclusive. This is gothic punk alternative fashion with a paper trail back to the Grundy interview, and it works with a suit jacket as well as it does over a ripped shirt.
