Before Jon Oliva was writing rock operas about Rasputin and dead composers, Savatage were down in the gutter of heavy metal doing something genuinely unhinged, and The Dungeons Are Calling is the document that proves it. The 1984 EP landed like a fist in a velvet glove, raw Tampa power metal with a theatrical streak that would eventually swallow the whole band whole.

This tee nods to that early chapter, before the arena ambitions, before Gutter Ballet, before the Christmas thing nobody talks about. The Dungeons Are Calling era Savatage were a different beast altogether, street-level and snarling, closer in spirit to Iced Earth or Metal Church than the prog monster they'd become.
