Wagner Lamounier and company were already legends by the time Hate dropped, having essentially co-authored the blueprint for both black metal and war metal with I.N.R.I. back in 1987. Hate is rawer, meaner, and more confrontational than most of their peers were willing to go at a point when death metal was getting technically ambitious and black metal was going atmospheric. This is Brazilian extreme metal at its most uncompromising, a record that sounds like it was recorded in a bunker and doesn't apologise for it.
