Born Too Late came out in 1986 and the mainstream had absolutely no idea what to do with it, which is exactly right.

This is the record that put doom metal on the map before doom metal was a category anyone was using. While thrash was accelerating everything, Saint Vitus went the other direction and found something uglier and more honest underneath. The title track alone is a mission statement for every misfit who arrived somewhere too early or too late to be understood.
