Sydney's Rupture were the sound of a scene eating itself alive, and meaning every second of it. Raw, confrontational, and aggressively Australian, they occupied a space where hardcore punk stopped being polite and started being genuinely threatening.

Released in 2001, Rituals captures the band in full chaotic form, four tracks of abrasive, no-budget Australian hardcore that owes as much to noise and power electronics as it does to any conventional punk template. The track titles alone tell you everything about the mood. This is not a record for the faint-hearted or the easily offended, which is precisely why it belongs here.
