Red Harvest spent the better part of two decades proving that industrial metal didn't have to be slick to be devastating. Where a lot of the genre cleaned itself up and headed toward the mainstream, these Norwegians went the other direction, deeper into the static and the grind. A Greater Darkness, their 2007 swan song, is the sound of a band with nothing left to prove and everything to say.

Somewhere between Godflesh's concrete heaviness and the black metal atmosphere seeping through the Norwegian underground, Red Harvest carved out a dark aesthetic that felt genuinely hostile, mechanical without losing the menace, industrial without the chrome finish. This is the kind of record that rewards patience and punishes the uninitiated. The digipak format does it justice, the kind of physical artifact worth holding onto in an era when everything is a playlist.
