Ritchie Blackmore needed a new singer and he found one in Graham Bonnet, a man who looked like he'd just wandered in from a yacht but could absolutely destroy a microphone. Down to Earth from 1979 is the album that gave the world Since You Been Gone and All Night Long, two songs that somehow managed to be massive radio hits while still being undeniably hard rock.

The man fronted Rainbow for one album, then went on to Alcatrazz and a solo career that cemented his place in the heavy metal and hard rock canon.
