RADIOHEAD: Hail to the Thief Vinyl 2LP

The last Radiohead album before the long exhale of In Rainbows, and arguably the most underrated one in the canon. Hail to the Thief arrived in 2003 mid-Iraq War, mid-everything-going-wrong, and Thom Yorke was not in a good mood about it. Good.

Where Kid A and Amnesiac dissolved into abstraction, this one has teeth. Guitars are back, but they're wrong-shaped. "2+2=5", "There There", "Myxomatosis", these tracks hit like Jonny Greenwood had something to prove. The title itself is a dig at the 2000 US election and it never stops being relevant, which is the most depressing possible compliment you can give a record. The alt-rock faithful and the post-rock obsessives both claimed it; neither were wrong. This 2LP pressing gives the dense production the room it needs.
