PITCH SHIFTER: Infotainment? Cassette

The mid-nineties were a strange time to be angry. Industrial metal had peaked, alt-rock was eating itself, and somewhere in Sheffield, Pitch Shifter were making music that sounded like a server rack having a breakdown, and nobody quite knew what to do with them.

Infotainment? landed in 1996 and felt like a broadside against the exact media saturation we're now fully drowning in. The Pitchfords weaponised drum machines, down-tuned guitars and genuine fury into something that sat uncomfortably between Godflesh and Fear Factory without sounding like either. It aged better than most things from that era precisely because the target it was aiming at only got bigger. Getting this on cassette in 2025 is its own kind of joke, and a good one.
