The early 2000s were a strange time for heavy music, but some bands cut through the noise by just being unreasonably heavy and not caring about anything else.

Pissing Razors were a Texas groove metal outfit who understood exactly what they were doing, and Where We Come From is them doing it at full throttle. The Pantera influence is obvious and they'd be the first to admit it, but there's also a rawer, street-level nastiness here that owes more to Exhorder and Infectious Grooves than anything that ever got radio play. The digipak format makes this a nicer artifact than the standard jewel case pressings, and at this point any original run copy of a groove metal record this deep in the underground catalog is worth picking up. Loud, ugly, unpretentious. Good.
