Meddle is the record where Pink Floyd stopped being a band Syd Barrett left behind and started becoming whatever they were going to be. Released in 1971, it sits in this strange, searching zone between the psych chaos of their early work and the monolithic dark rock of what was coming.

Side two is basically just Echoes, a twenty-three minute piece that begins with a sonar ping and ends somewhere else entirely. It's not background music. It's not an easy listen. It's one of the best things they ever did, and this digipak pressing gives it the treatment it deserves. If you've only ever heard The Wall, start here, go back, and recalibrate what you thought you knew about progressive rock and the dark aesthetic of the early seventies underground.
