Pig Destroyer once wrote a grindcore album with a 37-minute drone piece bolted to the end of it. Mass & Volume is that piece, finally given its own vinyl and the room it deserves.

Originally appended to Phantom Limb back in 2007, this is the Virginia grind institution stripping everything back to pure sludge and doom, J.R. Hayes absent, Scott Hull and Brian Harvey locked in a slow, suffocating crawl that sits closer to Earth or Sunn O))) than anything on Prowler in the Yard. It's bleak, it's heavy, and it makes absolutely no concessions to people who wanted more blastbeats. Released properly on vinyl at last, pressed on a limited Christmas Tree green and gold marble that looks genuinely deranged under light, which feels appropriate for a record this unsettling.
