Before sludge metal had a Wikipedia page and a Bandcamp tag, Noothgrush were down in Oakland doing the slow, suffocating work of making doom feel genuinely hopeless.

Kashyyk pulls from the band's mid-90s demo material, and if you know Noothgrush, you know that era hits different. This is sludge metal at its most deliberate and ugly, rooted in the same Oakland underground that produced Dystopia and Grief, bands that treated heaviness as a philosophical stance rather than a marketing angle. The lo-fi demo quality isn't a flaw, it's load-bearing. It makes the whole thing feel like a transmission from somewhere you don't want to visit.
