The third and final Nirvana album remains one of the most important records in alternative and grunge history, a deliberate rejection of Nevermind's radio sheen. Butch Vig made them famous. Albini made them uncomfortable again. Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle, Rape Me, Pennyroyal Tea, an album that knew it was a last will and testament even if nobody wanted to admit it. The artwork, an angel surrounded by lilies and viscera, is as confrontational as the music, and it holds up across 500 pieces of cardboard on your kitchen table just as well as it does on a record sleeve.
