Fresno's Night Demon arrived in 2012 sounding like they'd been cryogenically frozen sometime around 1981 and thawed out with zero regrets.

This self-titled EP is where it started, and it still holds up as one of the most convincing heavy metal throwback documents of the last decade and a half. Nwobhm worship done with genuine conviction rather than ironic distance, all galloping riffs, Jarvis Leatherby's melodic bass lines sitting high in the mix, and hooks that go straight for the throat. The fact that this 2021 reissue is a shaped picture disc limited to 500 copies makes it the kind of object that belongs on a wall as much as on a turntable. If you missed it the first time, this is the version to have.
