Moon Argema mittrei Moth Genuine Framed Specimen
Before there were band patches and safety pins, humans were already pinning beautiful, unsettling things to velvet and putting them behind glass. The cabinet of curiosities didn't die, it just moved into better lighting.
The Argema mittrei, known as the comet moth or Madagascan moon moth, is one of the most dramatic insects on the planet. Native to the rainforests of Madagascar, the males carry long, twisting tails that can stretch past 20cm, which exist purely to confuse bat sonar during flight. Nature doing goth before goth had a name.
Genuine Argema mittrei specimen, professionally framed. As a natural product, each moth varies slightly in colouring, tail length and wing patterning. Frame dimensions vary, contact us for current stock specifics. Not a reproduction.
