MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE (Its 3am) Issues EP (2008)

There is a specific kind of 3am that only exists if you grew up going to sticky-floored alternative nights in the mid-2000s, and Mindless Self Indulgence understood it completely. Loud, damaged, somehow still catchy, completely unhinged.

The (It's 3am) Issues EP dropped the same year as On It, 2008, right in the thick of MSI's most commercially visible but creatively uncompromising period. Jimmy Urine built a sound that borrowed from industrial, punk, and pop without ever properly belonging to any of them, which is exactly the kind of thing that ages well. This is for the people who had their MySpace profile set to a Birthday Massacre song and also owned a KMFDM record. The dark alternative crossover that nobody marketed properly but everyone who found it kept forever.
