The Purple Mistress is one of the more arcane corners of Metallica lore, a nod to the custom ESP that James Hetfield ran hard through the Puppets and Justice era, when the band were still capable of genuinely frightening people.

Metallica patches are a rite of passage in heavy metal culture and this one earns its place on a jacket.
