MEGIDDO The Devil And The Whore - Picture Vinyl (2000) Pressed 2006
Canada doesn't get talked about enough in the early black metal conversation, and Megiddo are a large part of the reason that's a shame.
The Devil And The Whore is the full-length statement from Ontario's Megiddo, a record that arrived in 2000 when the second wave was already fracturing into a hundred sub-directions, and chose instead to plant a flag firmly in the cold, primitive soil of Bathory's early run. This 2006 picture disc pressing is the kind of object that earns its place on a shelf, with the visual presentation matching the record's bleak, uncompromising energy. Picture vinyl is as much artefact as music, and this one rewards both a good turntable and a well-lit wall. Raw, stripped-back black metal from a project that understood the genre's roots without needing to reinvent them.
Full length album on picture disc vinyl. Originally released 2000, this pressing from 2006. Artist origin: Canada.
