2009 was peak emo infrastructure, and Mayday Parade were right in the thick of it. Anywhere But Here arrived as the Tallahassee five-piece were cementing themselves as one of the genre's most reliable emotional architects, trading in the kind of anthemic heartbreak that filled suburban bedrooms and small venue mosh pits in equal measure.

Their second full-length pushed harder and leaned into the dual-vocal interplay between Derek Sanders and Jason Lancaster, who'd be gone by the next record, making this one a document of a specific moment. The hooks are enormous, the production shiny in exactly the way 2009 demanded, and if you were there for it, this hits like a time capsule.
