MARYANN COTTON Hallelujah CD (2020)

Shock rock has always been about the spectacle, but the best records underneath the greasepaint and theatrics are just good heavy rock songs. Maryann Cotton, dubbed the Prince of Shock Rock, knows this better than most.

Hallelujah is Cotton's fourth studio album, and it leans into the classic American hard rock tradition, the kind that owes as much to Alice Cooper as it does to the sleaze of the Sunset Strip. Big riffs, dramatic delivery, and a front-to-back cohesion that a lot of the genre forgot how to do. If you've been sleeping on Cotton, this is a solid entry point into his catalogue.
