Maiden United are a collective of European musicians who took the challenge seriously rather than sentimentally, and Remembrance is the result. These aren't campfire singalongs, they're proper acoustic reimaginings that find the melodic bones underneath decades of twin-guitar gallop and Steve Harris bass runs. It works because Maiden's songwriting was always this strong underneath the armour, and because the musicians involved actually give a damn. A strange and genuinely interesting artefact for the obsessive fan who already owns everything else.
