LORD Personal Journey (2003-2005) CD
Australian power metal has always punched above its weight, and LORD is proof. Mark Furtner spent years in the engine room of Dungeon before stepping out under his own banner, and this compilation documents the early years of that project with the kind of melodic bombast that makes you want to drive fast on an empty highway at 2am.
Personal Journey collects material from the 2003 to 2005 period, a time when LORD was establishing itself as one of the more serious entries in the local metal scene. The songwriting leans into the European power metal tradition, all soaring vocals and twin guitar harmonies, but there's a distinctly Australian grit underneath it that keeps things from floating off into prog-cloud territory. If you've been sleeping on the homegrown side of the genre, this is a solid entry point.
