There are bands, and then there are bands that basically invented the vocabulary every heavy, dark, and occult-adjacent genre has been borrowing ever since.

The Swan Song label was Led Zeppelin's own imprint, named after a mythological bird that supposedly sings one final song before it dies. Fitting, then, that it became the house for some of the most mythologised rock music ever put to tape. Jimmy Page's interest in Aleister Crowley, the IV runes, the Hermit on the Zoso sleeve, the whole Zeppelin aesthetic sits at the origin point of the dark and heavy thread that runs through metal, gothic rock, and alternative culture to this day.
