Most people know Kari Rueslåtten as the voice that made The 3rd and the Mortal genuinely haunting. What she built on her own is a different kind of strange.

Other People's Stories, released in 2004, sits in that particular Nordic space where electronic production and deeply atmospheric songwriting blur into something that resists easy genre tags. It shares air with the darker corners of Autumn Tears and the melancholic drift of early Sins of Thy Beloved, but Rueslåtten's solo work has always been more intimate, more exposed. This is not background music. It rewards the kind of listening you do alone, at night, with headphones. The dark aesthetic here is emotional rather than theatrical, which honestly makes it land harder.
