ISSUES Headspace CD (2016)

Issues arrived at a moment when the line between metalcore and R&B was being deliberately erased, and Headspace is where they fully committed to that experiment, making something that confused purists on both sides and delighted everyone else.

Tyler Carter's vocal range sitting over heavy alternative and post-hardcore instrumentation was always the band's defining tension, and Headspace leans into it without apology. It is an album that takes the dark aesthetic of metalcore and threads in hooks that have no business being that effective. The digipak presentation gives it the physical presence it deserves for a record this deliberate in its intentions. Alternative fashion kids who found their way into heavier music through this band know exactly what it meant at the time.
