Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is NWOBHM at its most ambitious, the moment the genre proved it could hold genuine progressive weight without losing the gallop. "Moonchild", "Can I Play With Madness", "The Evil That Men Do", "The Clairvoyant", the sequencing is immaculate, the mythology thick. Dickinson and Smith and Murray were operating at a level that most metal bands have never approached before or since. If you're putting together a serious dark music collection, this one is non-negotiable.
