Recorded across two nights at Long Beach Arena and the Hammersmith Odeon in 1985, this is Iron Maiden at the absolute peak of their World Slavery Tour, which is possibly the most aptly named tour in heavy metal history. Bruce Dickinson is somewhere between a fighter pilot and a priest, Steve Harris is running the whole operation from the bass like a general who never takes a day off, and the Eddie onstage was the size of a small building. The set pulls deep from Powerslave, The Trooper, Aces High, and further back, covering their NWOBHM roots without ever feeling like a nostalgia exercise. It still sounds urgent. It still sounds enormous. If you want to understand why Iron Maiden means what it means to a certain kind of person, this is the document.
