Fear of the Dark came out in 1992 and the title track has been a stadium singalong ever since, tens of thousands of people bellowing about nyctophobia in unison, which is either the most metal thing imaginable or a very efficient group therapy session. Probably both.

Iron Maiden's run from Killers through Seventh Son is the kind of heavy metal canon that patches were invented to commemorate. This strip patch pulls from that legacy, officially licensed and woven in England, which is the only appropriate country of origin for anything Eddie-related. Whether this lands on a battle jacket in progress or gets sewn to the flap of a backpack that has already seen too many festivals, it earns its place. The dark aesthetic and horror iconography of Maiden's artwork built a visual language that every gothic and metal subculture since has borrowed from, consciously or not.
