Impiety sit at the intersection of black, death, and thrash in the most unhinged way possible, part of a Southeast Asian extreme metal underground that includes Abhorer and a lineage that runs parallel to the war metal chaos of Blasphemy and Bestial Warlust. Kaos Kommand 696 is their 2002 full length and it hits like an artillery strike, relentless, lo-fi enough to feel dangerous, and packed with the kind of riff density that demands repeated listens just to map the carnage. Not an easy record. Not supposed to be. The kind of album that Melbourne's underground metal crowd has been quietly passing around for years.
