HOLE Pretty on the Inside Tee
Pretty on the Inside came out in 1991 and Courtney Love has been making people uncomfortable about it ever since, which is exactly the point. Steve Albini recorded it to sound like your speakers are disintegrating, and Kim Gordon executive produced an album that said something ugly and true about being a woman in noise rock before most people had the vocabulary for it.
Hole doesn't get filed under "grunge" the way Nirvana does, and that's a conversation worth having, because Pretty on the Inside is weirder and more confrontational than most of what shares a shelf with it. This tee is for people who know that, who've got Babes in Toyland and Veruca Salt in the same playlist, and who understand that the alternative scene always had more going on than the mainstream wanted to admit. Dark aesthetic, no apologies.
