"Sins of the Past" is a 2007 compilation that digs back through Helstar's catalog from their Shrapnel and Metal Blade years, a time when American heavy metal still had room for actual technique and James Rivera's vocal range was doing things that made European power metal bands quietly nervous. This isn't a nostalgia cash-in, it's a solid entry point into a band that got criminally overlooked outside of underground metal circles.
