Fifty-something years into their existence and Hawkwind were still out there, still weird, still absolutely certain that space was the place. Blood of the Earth landed in 2010 like a transmission from a parallel dimension where the psychedelic underground never got absorbed into the mainstream, and that's exactly the point.

This is the band that invented space rock before anyone had a name for it, that soundtracked Ladbroke Grove squats and gave Lemmy his first serious gig. By 2010 the lineup had cycled through half of British rock history, but Dave Brock kept the core frequency locked in. Blood of the Earth is heavy, droning, and genuinely strange, built on the same cosmic motorik pulse that made Space Ritual a touchstone for every psych, krautrock, and dark ambient act that came after.
