Hank Williams III spent years being forced to play nice for a Nashville that wanted him to be his grandfather's ghost. Straight to Hell was his answer, a double album that split itself clean down the middle, one side pure outlaw country, one side blackened sludge metal, and dared anyone to tell him it didn't make sense.

It made sense. The country half lands like early Waylon filtered through genuine resentment, the metal half sounds like a shed fire in rural Tennessee. Together they form a portrait of an artist who understood exactly what he was rejecting and why. This limited reissue on red splatter vinyl comes with a poster, which is the correct way to own a record this confrontational. Country fans found it too loud. Metal fans found it too twangy. Everyone else found it just right.
