Dookie was the punk rock alarm clock that went off in 1994 and woke up every suburban kid who felt like they didn't fit. Green Day took the Gilman Street blueprint, added hooks sharp enough to draw blood, and accidentally introduced alternative punk to the mainstream without apology. It's easy to take it for granted now, but put it on and tell me "Basket Case" doesn't still hit. Billie Joe Armstrong was writing anthems for the anxious before anyone had a word for it. This is a record that belongs in any honest punk or alternative collection, full stop.
