The Pamphobeteus antinous doesn't need a mythology built around it, though it has one anyway. One of the largest tarantulas recorded on earth, a leg span pushing 27 centimetres, native to the cloud forests of Bolivia and Peru, and named, appropriately, after the favourite of an emperor.

In the world of arachnid specimens, this is the one people stop in front of. The sheer scale of it does the work, dense urticating hairs, legs that fill the frame, the unmistakable silhouette that has been a fixture of horror imagery and alternative fashion iconography for decades. Spiders at this size stop being unsettling and become something closer to magnificent, the kind of thing that earns a place in a serious collection alongside band posters, weird taxidermy, and anything else that signals you have a specific and committed relationship with the dark side of natural history. ALT CVLT stocks these because the Melbourne underground has always had good taste in the genuinely strange.

Professionally mounted and framed under glass. Large specimen with leg spans up to 27 cm recorded. Exact frame dimensions may vary between specimens. Sourced ethically and prepared for display.
