EXODUS Another Lesson In Violence Cassette 1997 (2022)

Bay Area thrash at its most unhinged, caught live and pressed onto tape. Exodus were never a band that did restraint, and Another Lesson In Violence, recorded at the Trocadero in San Francisco in 1996, is proof that the reunion of original vocalist Paul Baloff was one of the most gloriously dangerous things to happen to thrash metal in that decade.

Baloff died in 2002, which makes this document mean something. This is the sound of a man who genuinely looked like he might destroy the venue, fronting one of the bands that built the template every thrash act since has been stealing from. Bonded by Blood is the classic, sure, but this is the room where it all came back to life. The tracklist covers the full span of their catalog, fast and filthy and recorded like it should be.
