ENTOMBED A.D. Dead Dawn 1CD 1Cassette Boxset (2016)

The name split was ugly business, but Entombed A.D. came out swinging. Dead Dawn, their second post-split record, is a reminder that Stockholm still knows exactly how to make death metal that sounds like something crawling out of a mass grave and into a dive bar.

This is the good stuff, the HM-2 buzzsaw tone, the death 'n' roll swagger, the hooks that lodge in your skull whether you want them there or not. Alex Hellid might be across town with the other lot, but L-G Petrov and crew never lost the thread. Dead Dawn sits comfortably alongside Clandestine and Wolverine Blues in the lineage of Swedish death metal that refuses to be purely one thing. Dark, heavy, and just the right amount of filthy.
