Before there was punk, metal, goth, or any of it, there was a kid from Tupelo who walked into Sun Studio and blew the roof off everything that came before. The King is the root of the tree.

Say what you want about the Vegas years, the jumpsuits, the biopic, but Elvis Presley invented a kind of danger. That sneer, that hip, that cross-cultural collision of country and rhythm and blues arriving in a white kid's body in 1954, it terrified parents and that alone is enough. Every leather jacket in rock history has his fingerprints on it. This patch belongs on a battle vest next to your Misfits and your Cramps and your Stray Cats, because the lineage is real and anyone who knows knows.
