ELUVEITIE CD - Evocation II Pantheon

Eluveitie doing acoustic folk metal is one of those things that sounds like a gimmick until you actually sit with it, and then you realise it's some of the most genuinely haunting music the genre has produced.

Evocation II: Pantheon is the Swiss band's second full dive into their acoustic, Gaulish roots, stripping back the melodic death metal machinery and letting the hurdy-gurdy, uilleann pipes, and ancient language do the heavy lifting. It's bleak and beautiful in equal measure, a record that sounds like it was recorded in a forest that hasn't been warm since the Iron Age. If the first Evocation left you wanting more of that ceremonial folk darkness, Pantheon goes deeper, slower, and considerably more pagan about it.
