ELECTRIC WIZARD Let Us Prey CD (2002)

There is a version of heavy that is about speed and aggression, and then there is Let Us Prey, which is about weight, rot, and the creeping certainty that something is very wrong. Electric Wizard's 2002 follow-up to Dopethrone is not a crowd-pleaser. It is a slow, occult, Dorset-brewed descent that sounds like the amplifier is winning.

Recorded with a lineup in flux and a general atmosphere of internal chaos, Let Us Prey channels that friction into something genuinely unsettling. The doom metal is thick and slow-dragged, the stoner rock elements arrive like a bad trip rather than a good one, and the whole thing sits in the ALT CVLT catalogue exactly where it belongs, between the horror section and everything else that refuses to make things comfortable. Essential for anyone whose dark aesthetic extends past the wardrobe and into the speakers.
