DYSTOPIA The Aftermath... (1999) CD
Before the self-titled codified everything, The Aftermath. is where DYSTOPIA's worldview was already fully formed and already furious.
Released in 1999, this compilation full-length pulls together some of the rawest material from their earlier years, and it's a document of a band that understood suffering, systemic rot, and the aesthetics of collapse before those became fashionable reference points. The sludge is heavier here, the crust more abrasive, the production rawer in a way that suits the content perfectly. This is the record that circulated on dubbed tapes through squats and infoshops, that turned people onto a whole different idea of what heavy music could mean. It didn't need to be pretty to matter. It still doesn't.
CD format, full length compilation album, USA. Genre: Sludge Metal / Crust Punk, original release 1999.
