Australian power metal has always had a chip on its shoulder, and Dungeon wore it like armour. In an era when the genre was either chasing European symphonic excess or American radio formats, this Melbourne outfit did it their own way, melodic, muscular, and utterly sincere in a way that the genre's detractors never quite accounted for.

Originally released in 1999 and reissued in 2005, Resurrection is the record that announced Dungeon as one of the most serious acts in Australian heavy metal. Lord, the project's principal force, brought a compositional clarity to power metal that held its own against the international field without losing the rough edge that made it feel local. This is alternative music in the truest sense, a genre built entirely by people who refused to care whether it was cool. It was never cool. That was never the point.
