Swedish hardcore in the late nineties and early 2000s had a particular brand of ugliness to it, and Driller Killer were at the front of the queue. Cold, Cheap & Disconnected, their 2002 full-length, sounds exactly like its title: raw, grinding, and completely indifferent to your comfort.

Driller Killer operated in that grimy overlap between crust punk and metal where nobody bothers with melody and the whole thing feels like it was recorded in a bunker.
